The priorities set out below were developed as part of Speak Up or Sell Up and reflect the key issues supporters raised following recent engagement with the club’s ownership. While some questions were partially addressed, many remain unanswered and in several cases the responses raised further concerns. These priorities are not fixed. They will evolve as more supporters get involved and as new information emerges.

Our aim now is to build an independent, supporter-led organisation from the bottom up. Anyone who wants to be part of it can join for free, contribute ideas, and vote on the issues that matter most. This will be a unified Gasheads’ voice, shaped by supporters themselves with accountability, transparency and collective decision-making at its core.

The power will come from the supporters, not the other way around.

These priorities reflect what many Bristol Rovers supporters believe are the minimum standards required to protect the club’s long-term future. They are not ultimatums, but reasonable expectations around transparency, accountability and direction. Each priority has been assessed against recent communication from the club, so supporters can clearly see what has been addressed, what remains unclear, and what still requires action.

 

1. Long-term vision for the stadium and the future of the Mem.

We need a clear update on the long-term stadium plan, including timelines, progress, obstacles and alternatives.

Supporters must be informed about the club’s intended direction and plan for its home.

2. Open communication on all matters relating to the club.

Supporters deserve updates that deliver a strategic vision of what we’re trying to achieve.

Automated or AI-generated messages are not an acceptable substitute for genuine communication.

3. A genuine apology and acknowledgement of responsibility

We expect a personal and direct statement from ownership acknowledging the relegation. 

Outlining what went wrong, and accepting accountability.

4. A clear explanation of failures and lessons learned

Supporters deserve transparency about where the club believes it failed last season. 

What has been learned, and how those lessons will directly shape future decisions.

5. A long-term football strategy, not just new appointments

Replacing the manager and Director of Football cannot be the entire plan.

We want the ownership to present a coherent, long-term football strategy addressing recruitment, development, stability and performance.

6. Financial clarity and annual operating expectations

What is the playing budget? What level of investment is the ownership prepared to commit each season?

What are the realistic financial expectations for the club in the short and medium term?

7. Transparency on financing and investment capability

Can the current ownership realistically finance the club’s long-term ambitions, including infrastructure projects?

If not, they must be transparent about the need for external investment.

8. Investment strategy and sourcing

If external investment is required, supporters deserve clarity on:

• where the club intends to seek investment

• what scale of investment is needed

• what level of ownership/shareholding would be offered

9. Training ground update

We need a full update on the training ground situation. 

Including current progress, long-term plans and expected timelines for completion or expansion.

10. Professional executive structure

We request the appointment of an football experienced, full-time CEO and CFO (or similar roles).

These roles will provide professional governance, support football operations, and ensure the club is run to modern standards. 

Currently we have a setup with little-no football experience steering the ship. We want confirmation that the ownership will actively consider and pursue this.
